start: Oxford, St Giles [SP512065] finish: Oxford, St Giles distance: 27.2 km
This circle over Boars Hill is a nice route for an evening after work, or at the start of the cycling season. From the top of Boars Hill, you get a good view over the city of Oxford.

Great site, thanks! Did the Boars Hill Ride last night and enjoyed it - gentle most of the way, with a couple of hills.
One question though: when creating maps on google, how can you change the settings, so it doesn't just follow the way a car can go (e.g. how can you get it to go along broad and holywell street instead of following the long way around longwall st). Any help much appreciated!
Hi John, the routes are not created in Google Maps. The route is created with either Mapsource software (Garmin), or a result from recording it with my own GPS. The route is then converted to a KML file which can be displayed in Google Maps.
Thanks for the routes, which we used for our lands End to John O'Groats training, through the winter and spring. They were a real help. The Chiltern Beauty in particular is a fabulous ride and good training.
This blog is a collection of cycling routes with Oxford as a starting point. Cycling is a popular and effective mode of transport within the city, but cycling on country roads is often considered dangerous. But wouldn't the world grind to a hold if we stopped doing everything that might be dangerous? Cycling is a great way to explore the coutryside and exercise, so get on your bicycle and try some of my routes. They follow quiet roads as much as possible, but do take care and wear your helmet!
